April 7th: Canning Pickled Vegetables The Basics
Alberta eats way more pickled carrots than ANYTHING ELSE Mojo Jojo Pickles sells. Maybe it's because our carrots are world-class here in Alberta. Let's put them up in a classic dill and garlic brine to savour the delight o a sweet crunchy carrot year-round.
We will meet at Mojo's Jojo's Nosh & Quaff (9627-82 Avenue) where Jojo will supply all of the things you need to take home3 jars of pickled carrots.
This is a great introduction to canning and pickling basics. Good knife skills are a help.

1:30 Recipe Prep: Brines, Salt and preparing Vegetables.
2:00 Packing and processing a canning jar.
2:30 Q&A, Pack up your cans, and off you go!
This class will give you the confidence to read and follow pickle recipes on your own, setting you up for canning success in the future.
Canning Tools, provisions, and recipe books will be available for purchase at the end of the class.
Washrooms and beverages will be provided
The kitchen is at grade level on Whyte Ave but shop doors may be narrow for a chair. Participants should be able to stand or sit at counter height for 2 hours.
Instruction will be in English and can be taught in French if requested.
